Meet the Artist

Hi! I am Lisa Kicklighter, and I am a pastel artist who is absolutely loving retired life. But it’s not actually retirement for me. It’s been about spending time with family and friends, finding new adventures, and learning new things. After spending almost 30 years as an upper elementary and middle school teacher, I began searching for my new passion. This was it for me! Although I never had any formal art education or training, I began immersing myself in the study and practice of painting with soft pastels. Why pastels? I love the richness they produce and the versatility in creating with them.

I’ve been married to Clay, my high school sweetheart, for almost 35 years, and we are blessed with two amazing sons and two precious grandsons. Oh, and our dog, Finley. That’s right, all boys! We live in rural Southeast Georgia, and we love small town life. Not too far away from home are the beautiful Golden Isles, so we have the best of both worlds. There is no shortage of gorgeous landscapes and seascapes, so of course, I love painting landscapes. 

Now for my “why”. Yes, I paint because I truly love it. But everything I have and everything I am is because God gave it to me. He gave me the opportunity, the provision, the desire, and the ability to do it. So I want to make sure that I keep Him at the center of it all. He is my “why”, and I want to give Him the glory for it.
